5G Trial Services

KT showed off its Augmented Reality 5G technologies such as Sync View, 360°VR and Hologram Live at the first test event, in February 2016.

In February 2017, at the second test event, KT allowed users to experience its Interactive Time Slice as well as other services based on the future commercialization of 5G and which are currently in development.

    This is a cellphone based video streaming technology which allows viewers to control the time, target and angle of what they are viewing. This 5G based technology uses high bandwidth transmission (dozens of times faster than regular video) to offer a new sports broadcasting experience.

    • Flying View : With this video feature, users can smoothly change the angle they are viewing the field from, just as if they were flying around the arena
    • Free Focus : Viewers can choose any player they like and have the camera focus on just them, with the Time Slice video feature

    • Recording method : dozens of camera are setup to capture video of the arena
    • Encoding and broadcasting method : The recorded video is encoded and broadcast in real time
    • Control Method: viewers can freely control and enjoy the video via a phone application

    Hologram live is the service which transmits 3D holographic TV broadcasting remotely through 5G technology. KT demonstrated the live hologram interview between Ganghwamun and PyeongChange area which are 200km apart.

    360° VR is the service which transmits 360° real time live broadcasting TV through 5G Technology. Viewers can enjoy the live and immersive experience just like being in the stadium watching in any direction.
  • 5G Safety

    5G Safety
    5G Safety is the security service with intelligent facial recognition algorithm. If there are dangerous or unauthorized activities, safety system will transmit directly to the security and control center. 5G safety can be used as emergency management system.
